Abingdon Theatre Company Presents: Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera
“Abingdon Theatre Company presented a one-night-only concert performance of Tonya & Nancy: The Rock Opera at the Lucille Lortel Theatre on February 4. Becca Kotte and Sara Jean Ford stared in the title roles of the musical, which utilizes the 1994 Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan media frenzy to explore America’s obsession with celebrity scandals.
With a libretto and concept by Elizabeth Searle and music by Michael Teoli, the musical featured Ford as Nancy, Kotte as Tonya, Cheryl Stern as Mom, Jared Zirilli as Jeff, with Heidi Friese, Chase Kamata, Ryan MacConnell, and Colin Barkell. Shudder Presents: Video Palace
AMC’s Shudder just released its first dive into scripted podcasts with “Video Palace”! Created exclusively for Shudder by Nick Braccia and The Blair Witch Project producer Michael Monello, co-written/directed by Ben Rock (20 Seconds to Live, Alien Raiders) and co-written by Bob DeRosa (Killers, White Collar), the 10-part series chronicles a young couple’s investigation into the origins of a mysterious VHS tape and the infamous video store from which it came. All episodes of Video Palace, along with 5 extended interview scenes, are available now on Shudder exclusively for its members. Episode 1 of Video Palace is also available to non-members on Apple Podcasts and other platforms, where subsequent episodes will be released weekly.
